A fab trip

Jess and I went to fabulous San Francisco. We had a great time. We shopped all over China Town, and got some great buys. My favorite was a nice high class pen that I got Matt. The girl on the pen looses her bathing suit when you turn it upside down. It was a bargain at only a dollar. We also scored some really cute purses and other little things. Riding the cable cars was really fun. Good thing Jess was looking out for me cause I was hanging off the side and leaned back to take a picture and she pulled me in before I lost my head to a car mirror. Our hotel was great. The room was a little small but we didn't spent much time there anyways. It was a great location right across from Walgreen's and right in union square. That Walgreen's was a life saver! We took a bay cruise that went under the Golden Gate Bridge and around Alcatraz. We didn't get to see Alcatraz up close, next time we will buy our tickets far in advance. We met up with my friend Shannon and had dinner at the Stinking Rose. A garlic based restaurant. We also hit a couple bars and it was a great time. We both rode the BART which is kinda like the subway, to our airports. It was a great trip and a great adventure!! Click on the slide show to the right to see all the great pictures.

Arches National Park-WOTD

When I was a kid we used to travel to the National parks in and around Utah. One of the vey coolest is Arches. There are some realy amazing things to see there. it is a great place to camp too. My sister and I used to gather pine nuts and roast them in the fire and eat them. They were so good, and those things in the store are really expensive now! Arches is really cool to drive through and there are many sites you can see from the road, but if you hike just alittle you get to see really amazing arches and land forms. It is a beautiful place and I am glad that I have been able to experience it!

Weekend Happenings

This weekend was pretty fun. On Friday we went for sushi and then went over to the Peppermill and I played craps and Matt had a beer. I only won about 20 bucks but it was fun a nd better than loosing. On Saturday Matt went and got his contacts. Finally, the kid has been wearing his glasses for months now, so he is very happy. Then later that night we went to the Monster Truck Jam. It was really fun! We actually chose some pretty good seats and we had a great time. I will post some pictures of it once i get them downloaded. I have a crazy 2 weeks ahead. Next monday I have 2 test and next week I have 2 5 page essays due. So I will be busy with those this weekend. And then next Thursday I am gong to meet Jess in San Fran and comence our girls trip. But after I get back it will be spring break and I will have some time off from school.

Yellowstone National Park- WOTD

Yellostone is probably my favorite National Park. I fell in love with it when I was about 8 and my grandparents took me, my sister, and my cusin Andria on about a 2 week long trip. We traveled through in the old motor home and had a great time. We sae Old Faithful, the buffalo, fed the prarie dogs, saw the Grand Tetons, and we even stayed the night at the Old Faithful Inn. It was really fun. I highly recomend that you go there and see all the fabulous natural wonders it has to offer. Here are some great websites to help you get to know the park and plan a trip.

Website a day

Ok I think I will start posting a website a day. I know your asking yourself "how Jana! How can you do this crazy thing with everything else you have going on" and I say "Whoa com'on people I love my blog readers so lets post something intersting" and then you say, well uh you get the picture. Now I will try to stay wayfrom just my beloved knitting/clothing sites but it will be hard. I think I will choose a topic each week and then stick to that. Sweet, I awsome! This week....National Parks.

We didn't start the fire....

So my sister-in-law Lisa is all like into saving the world and stuff. So I thought I should share all the ways that she has listed to help save your planet Earth with little or no money. Cause lets face it, most of us are poor. In the wallet of course not life. Listen recycling is just not enough anymore, and besides likewe enev do it. I know we should, I mean I might not have to work if we got paid for all of our beer and pop cans! So grab your mouse, sit on your can and do some good!

Poetry

OK This week is poetry. I found 2 really cool books at Barns and Nobel. I have decided to just stat buying them because I really like most of the books and it will be a great start to a little library. The first is Animalia by Graeme Base.
It is really cool. It goes throught the alphabet, and while the rhymes are nothing spectacular the pictures are amazing. I highly recommend this book. You will love looking at the illustrations to find all the little hidden things. I bought the paperback because the hard cover was smaller. I liked having the bigger pictures.
The other one is If You See A Fairy Ring.

It is a collection of fairy poems from many different authors. The neat thing is that every other page has a oval picture the changers when you fold out the page. Kind of a pop up deal. I liked it because I love fairies and it is always fun to have an interactive book. Here is one of the poems from the book..
If You See A Fairy Ring
If you see a fairy ring
In a field of grass,
Very lightly step around,
Tiptoe as you pass;
Last night faries frolicked there,
And they're sleeping somewhere near.
If you see a tiny fay
Lying fast asleep,
Shut your eyes abd run away,
Do not stay or peep;
And be sure you never tell,
Or you'll break a fairy spell.
-William Shakespeare
