Christmas In Utah

We spent out Christmas in Utah this year. We were able to fly thanks to Bob and Barb and their generous gift of plane tickets. We did have a little problem getting there, flight delays that put us in Salt lake at about 1:30 AM. But we made it. We had Christmas eve with the Mueller's while Jess, Stuart and Dad went to the Taylor's. Christmas Day we went to Mom's house and had side pork and Mate Batle (this is a big German dumpling that is traditional and we make every year). We had family pictures taken and spent a lot of time with the kids. Fischer even spent the night at grama's house ( I put him to bed cause gramma is just a softy) and we even got to see him preform his dance and sing in his church program. Of course Jess and I and Lisa also had to hit the IKEA on Sunday before we headed home. Roxy in the mean time stayed with Stephanie and Aaron. They loved her and didn't want to give her back! We really enjoyed ourselves and were grateful to be able to see everyone.

Went to a concert at the Knitting Factory. Hannah won free tickets and invited me, Mandy, and Katrina. It was fun.

Christmas Cheer

This year I got all new ornaments for the Christmas tree. While I love our collections of handed down ones I just had to have these. Sam's Club had 4 different sets of non-shattering ( reads plastic but still cute) ornaments. So I got the traditional red, white and green sets. I also get the matching accents pack with glitter snowflakes and the set of 4 huge ones. They are so cool. Roxy can't bust them up all over the place, thought she has chewed one or two of the glitter stars to pieces. There is just something about a tree with all matching colors and ornament unity that makes it look so good and complete. I always wanted to buy one from the Christmas tree show thing they put on where they auction off these beautiful fancy trees and the money goes to charity. They are perfection from the top of the tree to the bottom and are worth thousands. I spent like 100 bucks total and I am still pretty satisfied. I also hung up the stockings for the boys and Roxy and put the garlands ( also made by me, thank you Michael's) on the railings and of course the wreath on the door. Now we just need some serious snow.

Happy Thanksgiving

Our dinner turned out great. We had turkey, mashed and sweet potatoes, corn pudding, stuffing, gravy and green beans. I also made pumpkin pie. Afterwards I opened my presants and Jennifer and I went shopping. Pretty good night.

Halloween Reno Style

Jess and Stu were her for Halloween. It was so much fun. We went to Bully's and watched the games. We hit the comedy club and the buffet. And to top it all off we partied through the Zombie Crawl( it's when you dress up and go to a bunch of different bars, some of the money made benefits different charities). Matt was Shaun form Shaun of the Dead, and Stuart was Ed. Jess, me and Cara were Brainiacs. We made all our shirts and wore our smarty pants glasses. It was so awesome! Then on Sunday we just hung out and passed out candy. I dressed Roxy up to answer the door!

When Fischer and Maddie Came...

We had so much fun! They even got to stay 2 extra days! I really enjoyed having Lisa and the kids. It was fun to have the house filled with kids. Every one enjoyed it except Roxy. She was pretty nervous with the kids around but was getting used to them on the last 2 days. Maddie couldn't look at Roxy with out crying and Fischer had a love hate relationship with her. We went on some fun outings. We went out to the pumpkin patch. Matt, Fischer and I went through the corn maze ( Maddie was napping in the car with mom for a minute) and we got lost and Fischer and Matt had to save me! It was really fun. We picked out pumpkins. Matt helped Fischer pick a HUGE one, and I chose one with a funky stem. Maddie loved the pumpkin patch. We carved our pumpkins and even cooked the seeds. They were really yummy. So now I have 2 fun pumpkins out front and they look so festive. We took Roxy to the dog park and played at the marina. We went to breakfast and to Trader Joe's. We played in the back yard and read books and watched movies. Now, I don't mean to brag, but I cooked EVERY night. I was a real Martha. Fischer and I baked cookies and we made apple pie. It was a great time and I can't wait to see them again.

October Fest

This is going to be a busy month. Between school and work, we will be having visitors. My Mom called and said that she might be making an impromptu trip to Reno next weekend. That's up in the air. But we have 2 for sure's. The 15th Lisa and the kids are coming out. Her good friend planned a trip with her sister and offered to bring her out here and then ride back. So we get to see them for a few days. I'm really excited for that. I can't wait to hang out and play with them. Also my sister and her husband are coming out for Halloween. I know we will have a really great time. We are going to go to a cool Zombie beer crawl. If you have ever seen Shaun of the Dead, then you will get that Matt is going to be Shaun and Stuart, my brother in law, is going to be Ed. Jess might be Shaun's girlfriend ( in movie terms only of course) and I think I will just be a Zombie. I'm sure we will do other good stuff too. I am really glad she is coming I am missing her a lot right now. It is going to be great and I am also looking forward to some cooler weather. It was in the 90's all last week. Today is more like fall and rainy and cooling off. Summer is done with and I'd like to move on to the next season.

chugging along

So I have been pretty bogged down by work and school. Lots.of.homework at this point but it is always interesting and my 2nd graders are fun. Right now I am sitting at the little Pho restaurant eating wonton soup. This is basically the only chance I have had to blog lately and I'm using my new phone to do it. Working pretty well but I can't upload photos. Otherwise it's pretty cool.

Air Races 2010

We have been to the Air Races for the last 4 years in a row. Matt loves going. He has a big thing for planes and has about 100 little know facts that he likes to let loose while we are there. It is pretty cool the Canada Thunderbirds were there and put on a really cool show. They have stunt planes that fall and write in the sky. Also there is really good food.
