Saved by the coupon!

So after making my binder and clipping coupons in my spare time I finally put them to use today. I was so nervous when I got up to the register. I just kept thinking great if they don't take the coupon I'm not getting the item, and then hoping I would be able to avoid that! I went to Target and got:
Buy 1 get 1 free Febreez Fabric Refresh ( saved 4.99)
NyQuil/Dayquil pack ( saved 1.50)
2 GE low energy flood lights for the kitchen ( saved 1.00)
Oatmeal products ( saved about 5.00)
Special K (Saved 2.50)
Mac N Cheese ( saved .55)
That's all I can think of right now. But my total savings was 24.90! Pretty good for a first trip. Only 1 coupon was denied but I had an alternate. I separated all my stuff with coupons from the other items and did 2 transactions so I could see my savings. My other items were a little over $25 so that made them almost free! I have decided to only use Target and then Walgreens and CVS. The 2 drugstores are literally around the corner, Target is a little further but they seem to have the best coupons and I had a good experience. I hope to really start saving big. I realized how much more I could have saved if all the items were on sale! It was sort of a rush and I must say I might be addicted!

Ahh the beggining of the end

I started the first week of my last semester before I graduate. It is going to be intense. I hope I can do it. I have a fail safe that if for some reason ( ahem..this independent math class that is killing me simply because it all depends on my motivation) I can't graduate, I am still walking and then get my diploma in December instead of May. BUT lets just hope that doesn't happen. I am pretty sure I might have a mental breakdown before spring break. Our literacy class is an intensive hands on tutoring class where we make 2 lesson plans a week and tutor for 3 hours a week. AND they want us to call parents. Ugh please don't make me do that. I shouldn't have to do that until I get paid ok. Lucky for me I get to go through this mad semester with about 20 of the greatest girls I know and 1 guy. I am sure that their support an my supporting them will get me through. Not to mention I have a husband who does his best to understand why he has to work extra hard while I make posters and use glitter. Ok lets get this going!

Snip it and save

So I was watching a show on TLC called Extreme Couponing. It was amazing to watch these people spend lots of money and then save it all back with the coupons. Now I have to admit that they obviously spends endless hours searching and planning. I can't imagine spending 40 hours a week looking for deals. My time is worth more than coupons. But I can say I was inspired to take some small steps. I am going to try and just use one website to help me, The Krazy Coupon Lady seems t have it together. I also decided I am going to look for coupons for the most expensive and frequent thing I buy, like cat food and litter and dog food. I don't think I will ever have an amazing stock room like the extreme coupon people do ( although that would be amazing to be able to literally shop in your own garage) but I hope to save money on key items and then go from there.

Girls Night Out

Last night I got together with some of the girls that I go to school with and we wnet out. We headed to Edge, the night club at Peppermill. It was really fun to dress up and dance all night. We of course had to top it off with breakfast at the coffee shop. It was really fun and I loved my dress. I thought all the girls looked so cute and it was great to spend time with them.
