It's been a while

Wow hello blog missed you! Lets see the big deals are I got into the college of eduction, Grama & Grampa, Jess & Stuart and my mom all came out for my birthday and Thanksgiving and...well that's about it. It was really great having everyone out here and to have a house full was the best. We cooked the turkey and made the whole dinner. It turned out perfectly of course. Pise were made bread was cooked and grama brought her homemade lunch meat! I love having grama around. We are staying home for Christmas this year. It's Matt's year to work so it will just be the 2 of us and I have come to terms with that. We are going to make it great! I already started decorating and we are putting up the tree this weekend. Here are some fun pictures.

Catching up

My Dad came to visit for the weekend and we had fun. He helped me ma my yard sale station at a local middle school that had a fund raiser yard sale. We went to dinner and gambled a little at the casino. I won and I think he lost but it was fun. we drove up to Truckee so I could visit a yarn shop and I got some great stuff to know a scarf with. He brought us a great new coffee table and a couple of boxes of stuff that had items from Nana and a few things from my childhood. And he even brought me a great table to put in my craft room!
School is going right along, I can't wait for thanksgiving to get here. We are having family come out and it will be the first Thanksgiving dinner in our new house. Christmas will be fun also, Matt and I are staying in Reno, for one he has to be on call for Christmas, but also we want to have Christmas at the house also. Dad brought me a tree also.
Roxie just keeps growing, she is getting good at letting us know when she needs to go outside, but she has a lot of energy right now. But she is great to take on walks and she is staring to want to cuddle! She is a very cute girl.
I have a very exciting Vegas trip coming up. My sister and I and Katchy are all going for Halloween! That should make for a really fun and crazy weekend!
The weather is up and down out here. It's warm it's cold it rains it's sunny all in one day!

we hung out at the Fair last weekend. Watched the Demolition Derby and the tractor pull. We also got to ride the Monster School bus. It was the most fun awesome ride ever!

Our new girl Roxie Star

Welcome our new Great Dane puppy! She is 5 weeks right now and 10 pounds. But soon she will be way bigger..probably about 160 pounds! She will be a very big girl. We drove 2 hours to get her. So far Heman doesn't care/ignores her and Conan HATES her. He hisses and won't come down stairs. But he will get over it when he gets hungry enough. Her name when we picker her up was star dust, but that wasn't really us. So after much debate we settled on her new name. Right now she sleeps a lot and we have to take her out just about every hour to potty cause she already had 1 accident. She already comes when you clap and call her so I think we will have her trained in no time...I hope.

Trips and Trips

So I got back on Monday from California because My Friend Jennifer and I did a little thing called a paper chase. You basically go around to all these scrapbook stores and collect paper and scrapbook stuff. It was pretty fun, we went to 20 stores in just 3 days! Tonight we are driving to Salt Lake. We have a new niece to see, Matts Grampa is there and the Truck Show is this weekend. So that should all be fun, except the driving part of course. I start school on the 24th so after that I don't think I'll be going on many trips. I have 3 classes this semester but they will be taking up a lot of my time. My softball is going well. We have won 2 of the 3 games we played. Matt is good, his summer is very busy with work cause that's when they have the most work to do. The house is good the yard is good the garden is good!

These are some of the many peas that are growing and one of my zucchini's that I figured was big enough to eat. All very yummy.

How it goes...

So I started on my co-ed softball team and it is pretty fun. We had our first game last week and we won 15-10! It was great. It is so hot here. It will probably get to 100 today. My garden is doing good. I have a zucchini that is almost as big as my hand. There are lots of green tomatoes so I am looking forward to that. We had a BBQ on Saturday and really broke in the lawn. Matt has already mowed it once and it looks great. I am all signed up for next semester, the summer is going by quickly! I start August 24th. We are also the proud new Aunt and Uncle to Maddison. She was born 2 weeks ago. We are going out to see her in a few weeks. I had a great raft down the Truckee river last week for my friend Jenn's birthday and we went up to the lake also. That's the news folks!

I went to SF and San Jose to visit with my friends Paola and Sandra. It was a lot of fun. We shopped and went for sushi in SF and then went to San Jose so I could see Sandra's kids and hang out. It was so great to catch up with them.

Do Do Do Lookin' out my backdoor...

We have officially started our backyard landscaping. They have put in sprinklers and by Monday we will have grass. We haven't really decided what to do about a deck or patio so we are leaving that off for now. It will be so so nice to be able to hang out in the back and BBQ and fully enjoy our house. I have even planted a garden, about 2 weeks ago. I didn't do a post about it because I was afraid that it would die and I would look like a plant killing failure. But it id going great. I have peas, lettuce, basil and dill. I also planted tomato plants that were already started, and grama gave me rhubarb and some mint and other stuff to start. It is looking professional.

Headed to the Rodeo

 

Katie, Benson and Hal and Matt and I all went to the Rodeo on Father's day. It was a lot of fun. We rode the carnival rides and Benson and I got awesome cowboy hats. He loved it, he wore it the whole time! We had dinner and watched the cowboys ride the buckin' broncs and rope and wrestle the cows. It was pretty fun, the weather was great and we all enjoyed it!

Family Visit

Bob & Barb & Lisa & Fischer came to visit us this weekend. We had a lot of fun hanging out. We went to Lake Tahoe and Fischer loved it. The water was freezing but he took a dip anyways. There were lots of geese and ducks to feed. We also went swimming with Katie and Hal and Benson.We had a great time and were really glad to get to spend some time together.

So here is our beautiful new yard. I have some before pictures but I just can't bare to post them they are so ugly (plus they are on the camera and I'm lazy). But just picture brown, very dead, full of ugly weeds...in one word..horrible! But now we have lush green grass, for the most part( we have some more sod on the way cause we were a little short). I planted the topiaries and flowers in the front and now it looks like a real yard! It was extremely hard work. Imagine me covered in dirt and sweat ripping out dead grass and cursing (literally) every minute of it. Wait don't picture that! I looked like a homeless child when I was done! Laying the sod was much easier than ripping it out. Katie and Hal came over to help lay it. Matt and Hall tilled up the dirt and then it was cake, instant yard! I am pretty happy with it as I'm sure our neighbors are also. I still want to put river rocks on the side to make a path to the gate and get rid of the bark covering in the other side and fill that with plans and river rock. It's getting there. After the extreme DIY Matt and I were both very sore from head to toe. But it was worth it and after the outrageous estimate I think we saved almost $2,000 by doing it out selves.

Look at my cute pink bike!!! I love it! It rides great and best of all I look adorable riding it around my neighborhood. I just took it for a cruise tonight because the weather was perfect. Lucky for me our area is pretty flat and not to many hills. Which is good cause it only has 7 gears.



Also we are getting sod on Saturday and we are going to lay it in the front yard so we don't look like such jerks. Out grass was really dead when we moved in and now its extra dead and looks terrible and its full of weeds. So to keep from getting the stink eye from all out neighbors we are putting in grass. I will post some before and after. Hopefully it will look much much better.

Finally Finals

Well school is done with for the semester. I took all my finals and I'm pretty sure I did well. It is already like summer here, getting up to about 75 now and very sunny. I can't wait to start heading up tho the lake! This month is flying by already. Matt's parents and his sister and nephew are coming out next week I think so that will be fun. Lisa and Fischer have never been here so they will get to enjoy Reno and see our new house. I have some one coming out to give us a quote for the yard tomorrow! I can't wait, I am really sick of look at dirt and weeds back there. Other than that not much is new, Matt is working a lot more when he is on call cause it's getting warmer out. Oh we went to Katie and Hal's for dinner and their little boy Benson is soo cute and he likes me! We are best buds. They have a pool so I plan on spending a lot of time there, I love the house but giving up a pool was rough! Maybe I can have both.....

But it's still a pig and it's giving us swine flu! Um thanks Mexico I really appreciate that special gift you sent us. Anyways, I'm going to Sacramento this weekend with my friend Jenn. Her mom owns a scrapbook store and she is having a whole deal. The weather is kind of rainy but not too cold. I am SWAMPED with homework. Finals are just a week away so I have triple stress and tons to do. I can't wait for summer, I am making plans already people!Pretty soon I will be headed to Washington to see my little Kaitlyn graduate and for my Dad's retirement party. Geeze so many milestones in one month!

Vegas...you know how to treat a lady!

What can I say, we had fun..too much fun. So tired. Here's the dirty run down. We saw Sir Elton John in concert..best ever! We saw Chris Angel do tricks and take his shirt off and then proceeded to rip Perez Hilton a new one. We went to Pink Taco t eat yummy shrimp tacos. We danced till the morning light. We went to the wax museum and saw many famous faces. It was pretty much the best Vegas trip I have ever been on. I love going with just Jess and Katch because we really get along pretty well and we watch out for each other and make sure we are all having a good time. Even when my blood sugar gets low and I might kill someone for a sandwich. I posted the pics on facebook, but I will try to put a few on here too. Thanks Vegas.

fun weekend and more to come!

This weekend was super duper fun. Katie and Hal (Mat's old co-worker form Carrier who lived here before and his wife) are moving back. So they came out and stayed at our house while they looked for an apartment. we had a great time. We went to dinner and the casino and really had fun. I am so glad they are moving back out here. Hal is one of Matt's best friends and I really like Katie she is fun. They have a 3 year old little boy who will be coming and the super weenie dog, Flash. They went home on Saturday and on Sunday we went out to sushi for a Easter lunch and then went out in the desert with some of Matt's buddies and shot guns and just messed around.
In 2 days I am going to Vegas with Jess and Katchie. Speaking of Jess it's her birthday today. HAHA she is now 25 and has to feel old like me! At 25 my sister has a great life though so I'm sure she is glad to be this age and have so many good things around her. She has a degree a great job and a pretty good husband, a cute house, and a professional bunny. I am very proud of her and so excited that I get to see her in a few days. I'm sure we will all have some fun pictures to post. See ya then!

Back in bangs...

Thought I would change up the hair a little. More summer feeling. Had a fun weekend. Matt and I and mu friend Jenn all went bowling and then to the casino, we had a great time. But I don't think I ever broke 100! I'm not the best bowler.
